Ford Launches New Fiesta with Massive Star-Studded Party

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 28 September 2013 – How does one take a well-loved motoring icon to the next level as a lifestyle statement for customers? Ford made a great case recently by launching its new Ford Fiesta with a massive star-studded party at the hitz.fm Birthday Invasion LIVE Concert. Opened to the public, 12,000 revellers turned up at this much anticipated celebration.
The launch party was designed with the new Fiesta’s target segment in mind – young, enthusiastic and socially connected individuals who have gravitated to the vehicle’s fun-to-drive, vibrant personality since the Fiesta was first introduced here three years ago.
It was an evening to remember as guests were treated to live performances by international singer-songwriter and YouTube sensation Chester See and some of Malaysia’s top music acts, Estranged, James Baum, They Will Kill Us All, K-Town Clan, Da Vagabonds, Joe Flizzow, Mizz Nina and Pop Shuvit & Project E.A.R.
Popular DJs Ean, Jinnyboy and Jerryca to name a few, kicked off the party by entertaining the crowd with their boundless energy and funny antics.
By the time the first act got on stage to perform, the hordes of party-goers were charged up and raring to go. Local rock band Estranged needed no introduction when they opened the show with their head-banging, heart-pumping hits.
The intensity of the party continued to build as the much anticipated local music acts took to the stage in succession, belting out hit song after hit song. The atmosphere reached a fever pitch when Joe Flizzow and Mizz Nina blew the crowd away with their explosive performances.
Headlining act YouTube superstar Chester See stole the show away with his smouldering good looks and rousing performance. Dubbed the Ryan Seacrest of the YouTube world, Chester has made a name for himself as an intelligent and engaging content creator and his self-titled YouTube channel is fast approaching 100 million views. Deafening screams rose from the crowd when he made his way on stage and proceeded to woo the crowd with hits like “Bromance” and “Nice Guys”.
The crowd was on their feet all evening, screaming out lyrics, dancing non-stop and having a great time, while being entertained with fun-filled dance-offs, great prizes and even a few rounds of dazzling pyrotechnics.

The new Ford Fiesta is a fantastic mix of what customers have come to expect from Ford vehicles: stylish looks, impressive smart and safe technologies, fuel efficiency, performance and quality.
Priced at RM86,9881 the new Fiesta comes in two variants: the five-door hatchback Sport and four-door sedan Titanium.
The new Ford Fiesta leverages the mood-boosting effects of sophisticated and vibrant colour choices. The five-door Sport variant comes in Celestial Blue, Arctic White, Metropolitan Grey, True Red and Chili Orange; the four-door Titanium comes in True Red, Arctic White, Highlight Silver and Metropolitan Grey.
A Social-Focused Build-Up to the Malaysian Launch
In the lead-up to the new Fiesta launch, Ford introduced an innovative social media campaign – “Join the All-New Fiesta Movement” – highlighting the many-faceted appeal and personality of the new Fiesta: style, adventure, smart tech and automotive performance, qualities that resonate with the trendsetting Fiesta target audience.
The “Join the All-New Fiesta Movement” made waves on the Fiesta Malaysia Facebook page, increasing the number of fans by more than 68 per cent and garnering more than 200 submissions.
For this exciting pre-launch campaign, Ford needed to connect with the Fiesta’s target audience in the digital world. Ford identified four well-known Malaysian online personalities as “Agents,” each representing an attribute or personality of the new Fiesta. Ford then worked with each Agent to design a mission to assign to their followers who were invited to become “Agents-in-training” by submitting photos and videos based on these missions to impress the Agents for the chance at fame and the experience of a VIP lifestyle.
From a Fiesta style aspect, fashion and lifestyle blogger Chuckei Baby Jane was selected to be the ‘Fashionista’ Agent, emphasising the Fiesta’s sleek, attention-grabbing looks, inside and out. Her Fiesta “Agent-in-training” is Ng Lay Wee.
To emphasise the new Ford Fiesta’s many new smart technologies, technology blogger Jason Goh of smashpOp was chosen as the ‘Tech Geek’ Agent. His “Agent-in-training” is Mohd Afiq Ashraf.
The new Ford Fiesta is all about seizing the day and enjoying life with friends and daily adventure. Fitness blogger and FourFourTwo Performance presenter Fay Hokulani became the ‘Action Addict’ Agent, selecting Chai Jin Chern and Jacob Hii as her “Agents-in-training.”
Harvinder (Harvee) Singh of Driven was selected as the ‘Car Freak’ Agent to create a connection with motoring fans, emphasising the Fiesta’s fun-to-drive personality and performance features. His “Agent-in-training” is Adora Chloe George.
Following the contest, which ran from 8 July to 12 August, the selected four Agents-in-training began their whirlwind of prizes and high-profile events, including VIP tickets and Meet-and-Greet passes at this August’s LINKIN PARK concert; starring in nationwide new Ford Fiesta print and digital advertisements; VIP treatment at the new Fiesta launch party and Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show; and being the first Malaysians to take home the new Fiesta for a week-long test drive.
Ford’s “Join the All-New Fiesta Movement” builds on the success of other creative Fiesta Movement campaigns conducted both in Malaysia and around the world. In 2010 in Malaysia, Ford’s Fiesta Movement organised flash mobs and missions around Kuala Lumpur, encouraging event participants to upload pictures and videos of themselves on Facebook to win goodies, fame and the excitement of being a “FoFian,” the Ford Fiesta community’s term for a Ford Fiesta fan.
The first Fiesta Movement began in the U.S. in 2009. Ford loaned 100 digital influencers, socially-connected and tech-savvy trendsetters, a Fiesta each for six months. The digital influencers completed various missions across the country using Ford’s social media outlets to share their moments with the Fiesta with their social networks.
Creating a head turner
Designers created a head-turning exterior that gives the new Ford Fiesta a more refined appearance while retaining the overall character that has made the car so successful worldwide. The new Ford Fiesta’s face is dominated by a trapezoidal front grille – a signature of Ford’s new global family.
“Our aim with the new Ford Fiesta was to take a popular car that was already well-known for its fuel efficiency, performance and personality, and make it even better,” said Westerman. “The new Fiesta continues to push the boundaries and seal its credentials as the small car that stands out from the competition.”
The power-dome hood design adds to the changes, giving the car a more assertive and confident appearance. The designers paid special attention to the Ford badge, which is inlaid into the surface, showing pride and craftsmanship.
Small yet smart and safe
The new Ford Fiesta gives drivers the perfect blend of a connected world and an enjoyable driving experience. Technologies such as Ford SYNC were initially available only on some vehicles but Ford is making them accessible to more customers by introducing them across its vehicle line-up, including the new Fiesta.
Today’s smartphone users expect to have the same personalised, connected experience in their car that they have everywhere else. Ford’s exclusive SYNC technology enables drivers to answer phone calls and select music from devices connected via Bluetooth® or USB and listen to text messages by simply using voice commands. This helps drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times.
“The new Ford Fiesta was built for the digital generation,” added Westerman. “With SYNC, Bluetooth connectivity and MP3 capabilities, the tech-savvy can be constantly plugged into their favourite music and connected to their world while on the go.”
In addition, the new Ford Fiesta comes with an array of convenient features such as:
- Smart Keyless Entry and Ford’s Push Button Start – drivers no longer need their key to unlock the car or to start the engine. The doors unlock automatically at your approach and once in, you can be off with just a push of a button.
- Rain-sending wipers – an optical sensor located behind the windscreen automatically detects the rain and activates the wipers for the driver. When driving in wet conditions, the rain-sensing technology helps the driver gain precious reaction time in unexpected circumstances, such as a sudden splash on the windscreen from a passing car.
- Automatic headlamp technology – helping the driver navigate safely during their daily commute. The headlamps automatically switch on when conditions outside gets dark. All you need to do is keep your eyes on the road ahead.
- Home-safe lighting – keeps the headlights on for a few seconds after you exit the vehicle, ensuring you find your way in the dark.
- Puddle lamps – illuminates the area outside of the door, ensuring you don’t accidently step into a puddle as you exit the vehicle.
- Electronic automatic temperature control – automatic air conditioning allows you to just set the temperature you want and enjoy air-conditioned comfort.
The new Ford Fiesta also continues to offer the one of the most comprehensive safety packages in its class, including airbags for the driver and front passenger as standard. It also features Electronic Stability Program (ESP), helping customers remain in control of the car at all times, especially on slippery roads.
Further taking the stress out of driving, the new Ford Fiesta comes with an array of driver-assist systems. Rear parking aid with park pilot keeps drivers from backing into obstacles they cannot see. Hill Launch Assist helps drivers make a perfect hill start whether it’s uphill or downhill, by holding the car for up to three seconds on the slope.
Contemporary and spacious interior
Inside, things are just as expressive. The mobile phone-inspired dashboard and leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls amplify the modern interior and entice drivers to get in the car and on the move.
The new Ford Fiesta features a high-gloss finish for the upper instrument panel that flows to the lower centre console and is replicated in door panels. For those who prefer a light interior, the designers put in a two-tone instrument panel which creates visual space and roominess.
A satin-chrome detailing finish is offered along with Ford’s signature Ice Blue lighting to illuminate dials, switches and displays. Ford engineers also ensured that surfaces and knobs convey quality at every touch.
New seats are offered with high quality leather for the four-door sedan and partial leather and fabric for the five-door sport variant.
The new Ford Fiesta is powered by the global 1.5-litre twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) four-cylinder petrol engine. It delivers 82 kW (112 PS) of power at 6,300 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm at 4,400 rpm.
The Ti-VCT engine, paired with the efficient Ford PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift, providing fuel economy as good as 5.8 L/100km and carbon dioxide emissions of137 g/km2.
In addition, the new Ford Fiesta features smart regenerative charging that intelligently controls when the alternator charges the car’s battery. Whenever possible, the alternator charges the battery when it is most economical to do so, such as when the car is braking, coasting or idling, prolonging battery life and improving fuel economy.
To help drivers improve their eco-driving skills, the new Ford Fiesta features Ford EcoMode, a handy software application that measures the driver’s gear shifting where applicable, consistency and speed. Those with fuel-efficient driving skills are rewarded with in-car kudos in the form of leaf icons displayed on the instrument cluster.
Extended warranty and better cost of ownership
Ford is now offering a five-year warranty or a 200,000 km bumper-to-bumper new vehicle warranty for the new Fiesta.
As with all Ford passenger vehicles available in Malaysia, the new Fiesta also comes with Ford’s Extended Service Plan (ESP) to provide added peace of mind to customers at no extra cost. Ford ESP is a free three-year or 60,000km maintenance programme that covers parts and labour free of charge. In addition to routine inspection and maintenance services, Ford’s ESP covers free replacements for selected wear-and-tear items, including spark plugs, shock absorbers, engine belts, brake pads and wiper blades.
The five-year warranty combined with Ford ESP is designed to help Ford customers cut costs while increasing the resale value of their vehicles.
